JET Aerobic Wastewater Treatment System

What can a Jet do for you?

If you're unable to locate an answer to your question, please call us at (781) 878-3849 or email us at claire@clearwaterrecovery.com.

The JET System is an aerobic biological submerged media treatment system designed to treat wastewater. The System is installed in a tank with a primary settling zone, aerobic treatment zone and a secondary clarifying zone. Solids settle and scum collects in the primary chamber. The aerobic zone contains the fixed media, consisting of rigid plastic honeycomb material that encourages the growth of aerobic bacteria, which consume the organic matter in the wastewater. Aerobic conditions are maintained by an aspirator, which draws in, disperses and mixes fine air bubbles throughout the aerobic zone. Clear effluent is produced in the clarifying zone where the solids are settled and return to the aeration zone. The effluent from the clarifying zone is discharged to the soil absorption system (SAS).

Pros:

  • Advanced treatment: Provides cleaner discharge to the leach field, helping to protect groundwater quality.
  • Permanent solution: Can prevent leach field failure, unlike conventional systems that are prone to eventual failure.
  • Title V compliance: Allows for a fully functioning septic system on sites that otherwise wouldn’t meet Title V requirements.

Cons:

  • Perception of maintenance costs: Some homeowners view maintenance as a financial burden, but the true cost of I/A system upkeep is comparable to traditional 'big pipe' sewer expenses.
  • Lack of homeowner awareness: Many homeowners are unaware that their I/A system requires regular maintenance.
  • Administrative burden: Boards of Health or local approving authorities can become overwhelmed by managing varied systems, permits, repairs, testing requirements, site conditions, and contract expirations or renewals.
