Stephen is a Registered Sanitarian and a Certified Grade 6 Treatment Operator.
Stephen has been in this industry since he was about 12 years old working for his dad. He was a residential homebuilder and did a lot of septic installs. That’s how he got his start installing systems, which he did for 30 years. Occasionally, we’d get into a recession and when he turned 40 there was no work to be had. He had his own truck and backhoe, but he went to work at a treatment plant and did that for eight years.
Stephen discovered that he really enjoyed working in the Wastewater Industry. Then in 1995 Massachusetts revised their septic code and started talking about the innovative systems. Timing-wise, it was good for him because by then he had met a lot of the manufacturers. That’s when Stephen went to Jet and said, “I think I can get the Jet wastewater treatment plant approved in Massachusetts.” Stephen spent the next two years sending the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection enough literature that they finally approved the JET wastewater treatment plant. Stephen started Clearwater Recovery in 1997 and we have been going strong ever since.
